Hi, my name is Sonny Akbar Sembada and I welcome you to my blog, The Uncle Jazz. The main topic of my blog is everything related to jazz music..

Berklee Days and Whatnot

Founder of the record label and jazz drummer Kendrick A.D. Scott wrapped up his high school gig and landed in Boston at Berklee College of Music. He cruised through the scene, graduating in 2002, majoring in Music Education. Berklee was like the backstage pass to Kendrick’s future music adventures.

Hanging with the Cool Crew

Kendrick’s been the ultimate collaborator, jamming with a bunch of cool cats. Picture this – he’s keeping the beat with the Jazz Crusaders, strumming alongside guitar legend Pat Metheny, and vibing with vocal powerhouses like Dianne Reeves, Lizz Wright, and Gretchen Parlato. Oh, and don’t forget his saxophone buddies Joe Lovano and Kenny Garrett – they’re all about creating some killer tunes together.

Spinning Tracks with Oracle and Beyond

Back in ’06, founder of the record label and jazz drummer Kendrick Scott and his squad, Oracle, dropped their debut album, “The Source.” That was just the kick-off for Kendrick’s jazzy discography. He also threw in his rhythm magic on Terence Blanchard’s Grammy-nominated album “A Tale of God’s Will (A Requiem for Katrina)” in ’07. Talk about making waves in the music scene.
